Loki Peng

Loki was born in Xinjiang, China, during the millennial era. From an early age, Loki had access to computers and television. However, growing up within China’s self-contained internet ecosystem—shielded by a towering firewall—meant Loki encountered a unique and insular digital culture. This isolation sparked a deep longing for the outside world, along with a sense of nostalgia for experiences never lived beyond the firewall. Perhaps it was this yearning that led to a life in motion. Loki rarely stayed in one place for long, echoing the migratory rhythm of the shepherds from his homeland who move between spring and winter pastures. This restlessness also informs his relationship with technology, both old and new. In Loki's work, contemporary technology is often paired with outdated devices, using the old as a vessel to carry new content. Through this interplay, Loki explores the subtle coexistence of past and present.
