Dear Students, Friends, & Family

Tonight we premiere the 2026 FAV Senior works. Each project reflects the vision, creativity, discipline, and dedication of its maker.

These works have been sparked into being through the galvanic convergence of joy and doubt that makes us make things. The works have required endurance, tenacity, and learning, as well as physical, mental, and emotional labor. Each work is also an affirmation of the importance, value, and necessity of art.

These projects develop not only through the strength of their makers, but also through the collective energy and wisdom of a larger community. Family, friends, classmates, staff, and faculty all provide knowledge, labor, love, and patience that help sustain each creator’s process.

You have the honor of being the first audience. After tonight, these works will begin their own travels - many of them will travel to screenings throughout the world. Our seniors will also begin their journeys beyond RISD.

On behalf of RISD FAV, I congratulate each senior. May your hopes always outweigh your doubts – but don’t forget to treasure both.

Faculty and staff, I congratulate these seniors, and thank you for joining our celebration by watching their wonderful films!
